BarringtonPastor Barrington Johnson is a native of Charleston, WV. He graduated from Shepherd College with a Bachelors degree in Computer Science and later received a Master’s Degree in Software Engineering from West Virginia University. Currently he is pursuing a Master’s Degree in Religion and a Master’s Degree in Christian Counseling from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary.

Pastor Johnson has always had a heart for the youth as he sees the urgent need to prepare today’s generation to advance the Kingdom of God. In March of 2008, he was hired as the Youth Pastor of New Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC, under the leadership of Pastor Henry Williams. As the Youth Pastor, He ministered weekly to elementary to high school aged students. He also oversaw various ministries, conducted regular parent workshops to engage parents, and mentored numerous students.

In August of 2010, Rev. Johnson launched Surpassing Peace Ministries which is a non-profit ministry that offers workshops and an Online Resource Center (www.surpassingpeace.org) for anyone wanting to learn more about Christ and further grow in the Christian Faith. With the available workshops; churches, civic groups, or social organizations can choose a topic that will further educate the body of believers and bring them closer to Christ. The online resource center offers articles, daily devotions, recommended readings, relevant scriptures, etc. meant to assist believers in their daily commitment to walking closer to God.

In May of 2011, Pastor Johnson was called to Pastor One Way Baptist Church of Charlotte, NC. His mission is to develop a ministry that empowers believers to live in Christ, and to live Christ-like for the purpose of Advancing God’s Kingdom here on earth.

Along with his accomplishments, Pastor Johnson considers one of his greatest blessings to be his wife Tameka. He and Tameka were high school sweethearts and have been married since July of 2002. Together they live in Charlotte, NC and have two boys (Barrington II and Anderson) and a girl(Emberlyn) .
